Adaptive Sports and Adventures Program: Insight into the Programs and Value of Participation for Increased Confidence

Ms. Jennifer Moore, Carolina Healthcare System Adaptive Sports and Adventures

About The Session:

The Adaptive Sports & Adventures Program (ASAP) through Carolinas Healthcare System helps adults and children with physical disabilities develop skills that will lead to an active lifestyle without barriers. ASAP members can participate in a wide range of individual and team sports – from waterskiing and hand cycling to tennis and golf. Ongoing participation in adaptive sports can help to increase socialization, self-esteem and confidence.  As a result of attending this session, participants will have a better understanding of adaptive sports and some of the equipment used, opportunities for participation in adaptive sports and adventures for themselves and those they serve, and information on how to tap into resources across the state for adaptive sports and adventures activities.
