A Team Approach: AgrAbility, Vocational Rehabilitation, and NC Assistive Technology Program

About The Session:
The North Carolina AgrAbility Partnership (NC AgrAbility), is committed to assisting and educating farmers, ranchers, farmworkers and their family members engaged in production agriculture who are living with disabilities. The vision of NC AgrAbility is improve the quality of life for these individuals by helping to eliminate or minimize obstacles that limit independence and productivity in their agribusiness, agriculture-related occupations, and daily life. This session will detail how AgrAbility, Vocational Rehabilitation, and NC Assistive Technology Program work together in assisting farmers with disabilities. Completing a farm assessment allows the three agencies to provide services to the farmer so they can continue working with necessary modifications.

Shelby Kennerly:
graduated from Appalachian State University. She worked with Burke County Schools for 22 years as a speech therapist and assistive technology coordinator. She has worked with the NC Assistive Technology Program since 2005. She has worked with the NC AgrAbility program for 2 years where she provides onsite assistive technology assessments for farmers and agricultural workers.
Gloria Jinks:
has worked with NCATP for 4 years. She has a background in Occupational Therapy where she has practiced for over 11 years. She has worked with the NC AgrAbility program for 2 years where she provides onsite assistive technology assessments for farmers and agricultural workers.
