About The Session:

Marking yet another advent of important shifts in service delivery systems and practice settings among rehabilitation professionals, the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification is directing its third major Code revision. This presentation provides an overview of the newly revised draft Code of Ethics. The session will culminate with the audience engaging in an interactive activity to reinforce understanding. 

About The Presenter(s):

Brenda Y. Cartwright:

is a Professor of Rehabilitation Counseling at Winston-Salem State University. Prior to her current position, Dr. Cartwright has held teaching appointments at several universities nationally and internationally.  She received her doctorate in Rehabilitation Counseling Leadership from The George Washington University in Washington, DC.  She brings a distinctive perspective to the classroom-real-world application of theories with over two decades of counseling and administrative experience in State-Federal vocational rehabilitation, private rehabilitation and forensic settings. She is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor, a National Certified Counselor, and is licensed as a professional counselor and a mental health counselor.  She serves and provides leadership on national, state, and university levels. Dr. Cartwright has published and presented widely on disability and rehabilitation related issues, cultural diversity issues and professional ethics in counseling.   She is the recipient of numerous national awards in recognition of scholarly contributions to multiculturalism in the rehabilitation field
